We spent our spring break road tripping to the Grand Canyon and then over to Zion. We did it this way versus Zion first because for us, it was a longer drive to the Grand Canyon, versus Zion to home. We figured we would be completely sick of sitting in the car come time to drive home. I tried to narrow down the pictures so I could fit pictures from both Zion and the Grand Canyon into one blog post, but I couldn’t make up my mind so I’ll have another blog post up within the week of pictures from Zion.
We got to our campground on March 22 and left on March 25. It was cold at night, but not unbearable. During the last night there, it got really windy. During the day, the weather was great. We made reservations, and stayed at Mather campground at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. During this time of the year the North Rim is closed due to it still being really cold. We were told that the North Rim is 1,000 feet higher in elevation than the South Rim is. While we were there we hiked the South Kaibab trail to Skeleton point and it was one of the more advanced hikes we have completed (insert arm flex emoji here). We also took the shuttle over to the little town and walked around some and picked up some ice cream. We wanted to raft down the Colorado river, but from where they launch the rafts to our camp site was a 3 hour drive one way. So we added “Rafting through the Grand Canyon” as part of our bucket list!
Can you believe I have lived within 7 hours of the Grand Canyon most of my life and have never been until now? Pictures don’t do this place justice, and even when you are standing on the edge, it seems so unreal.
To note: all pictures were taken with my iPhone 6 and edited with the PicTapGo app.
