Yes, that is a wreath on the front door and yes the title of this blog post is correct. The wreath on the front door is the extent of my decorations for Halloween. 1. because I am a college student with a tight budget 2. because I am a college student with little free time. I always tell myself once I am done with school, I can do fun things like make a wreath for every season and major holiday. Yes, these are my grand plans when I am done with school if anyone is wondering.
I went to Joann’s with no clear idea of how I wanted to go about this wreath. I knew I wanted the bright Halloween green incorporated and I knew I wanted the black and white stripped yarn as the basis. I rummaged the Halloween sections at both Joann’s and Michaels and just picked up whatever I thought would work in my wreath. (I didn’t end up using everything I bought, so this college student retuned the unused items and headed to chipotle!) I started by wrapping a foam wreath with black and white yarn, alternating and hot gluing the starting and ending points of the yearn for each section. After, I used an insane amount of hot glue to attach everything else. Oh, and about that coffin-I painted it with chalkboard paint and once dry, rubbed chalk over it, and added the “RIP.” Viola! A fancy festive Halloween wreath!
Really, I think the one thing that lead me to this crafty project was an overwhelming to do list and a high anxiety level and maybe some pinterest inspiration. When I look back at my undergrad years, I think I did my best crafting while I was under some extreme stress and crazy deadlines. Some people stress eat, or do other undesirable actions when they are stressed out. Not me, I like to say that I stress craft. And the result, no extra pounds or feeling guilty, just proud of my accomplishments and a prettier place 🙂
