Have you been following along on my quarantine project of kitchen organization on Instagram?! Here’s part 2! You can see Part 1, here and some fun pantry organization inspo here. Products are linked on the bottom if you’re just here for the product links.
The actual pantry in our place has been a hot mess since we moved in (just passed the 3 year mark!). It’s been somewhat organized, but in the sense of only I knew where everything was at; and Travis knew where his cereal and Ovaltine were at. The entire cupboard is a good amount of space, but it just needed to be better organized.
Here’s what we were working with: we have party/serve ware up top (that still isn’t completely organized, but we will get to that another day), a whole shelf filled with reusable drink containers, all the parts to our Nutri bullet, Trav’s cereal, all the crackers (because what goes better with cheese, nothing.), our favorite skillet for pancakes, and everything in between. This was just asking to be organized.
Sadly, I did not take a before picture – I guess I was too anxious to get to organizing the hot mess. Because we rent, there was no putting in drawers that slide out, or moving the shelves up or down (they are sealed to the sides of the cabinet) – we had to work with what we had. Also, it’s pretty deep, so finding baskets that utilized the most space was key. The wire baskets I found for our reusable water bottles fit the space perfectly, and now I can pull down the entire basket to see what we have.
Thanks to COVID-19, my favorite place to pick up baskets and bins (Homegoods) has been closed. So I ended up ordering everything from Amazon. I found cute small wire farm house looking baskets (2 for $17 on Amazon) -I used one to house all my coffee stuff and one for all of Trav’s hot chocolate goodies. I love the look of clear plastic containers because you can easily see what you have and I was able to use my favorite paint pen and letter on the front of them. I found some clear label stickers on Amazon if you don’t have the patience to letter your containers, but like the look of it!
Organizing products:
- Skinny matte black wire baskets (comes in a set of 2)
- OXO Cereal Containers
- White paint pen
- Clear container labels (here, here and here)
- Larger grey wire baskets (ones I used for our drink containers)
- Plastic Organizers (great for oils, salsas, cans, rice, pastas etc)
- Wider plastic organizers
- Small black thicker wire baskets (coffee and hot chocolate stuff)
- Tea bag organizer – I bought this from Homegoods, but similar here, here and here
It makes me so happy whenever I open up the pantry now. It’s crazy how much of a difference a few containers will make! I hope you’ve been inspired to organize a pantry or cabinet.
I’ve had a few requests for how I’m organizing our Tupperware – so showing you that and redoing our spice cabinet is next on my list!
