I know everyone talks about their wedding day being the best day of their lives, but it really was the best day of ours (probably right behind the day where we got engaged in Italy after 9.5 years of being together). It’s something I’ve dreamed about for most of my life, often changing in vision, but it turned out better than I could’ve EVER imagined.
A destination wedding was something we decided on a couple years before we even got engaged. We knew we wanted it to be more than a single night ‘party,’ and there is no denying that we love to travel, so a destination wedding was an easy choice. We chose our venue about a month after we got engaged, and then everything else kind of fell into place. Neither of us had been to Maui, but fell in love with the Olowalu Plantation House strictly from photos and videos. I loved that it was secluded, not attached to a high rise hotel, and yet close enough to Lahaina and Kaanapali where guests were staying. And I mean look at those views!
We wanted a wedding in Hawaii, but not a Hawaiian themed wedding. We still wanted elements of our special day to be classic and timeless, and everything turned out perfect. There were tacos, lots of dancing, our favorite people, funfetti cupcakes, a gorgeous sunset, and best of all I got a handsome husband out of the whole thing.
