With a venue as gorgeous as the Olowalu Plantation house, heck for HAWAII!! we didn’t need extravagant decor. The views and scenery were already breathtaking on their own. We wanted the decor to blend into the surroundings versus take away from it all. And at the same time, we weren’t too picky with what we wanted. A big shoutout to our fabulous wedding planner Kim, from Exclusive Island Weddings, for making our vision come to life, and filling in the gaps with what we didn’t know we needed!
T H E D E T A I L S | My color palette was emerald green, soft whites, blush pink and accents of gold. We chose eucalyptus, and white and blush pink flowers for the florals, soft white linens throughout, and went with farmhouse tables and cross back chairs for seating. And I just love how it all came together.

Trav and I DIYed a lot of the signage. Minus the big signs, it was easy either shipping the rest over, or packing it away in our luggage.
BIG WEDDING SIGNS | (Welcome, Seating arrangement, Unplugged ceremony) Initially I was just going to order signs and have them shipped to Hawaii, but then realizing it would cost more to ship than the actual signs, we decided it would be a great idea to DIY these. That was great and all, but then we had to package them up in a box and lug them to the airport as part of our checked luggage. It was a struggle from beginning to end, but saved us a good chunk of change in the long run.
CARD BOX | I found our card box on Amazon, and I used my Silhouette to create the vinyl for the front. I love it so much, because now it houses all of the cards we received from our wedding and reception and is a pretty piece to have on a shelf in our house.
GUEST BOOK | We had guests sign post cards, that we bought in Maui, with well wishes or a memory of their time on the island. We had my family send these off in the mail after the wedding. It was so special to slowly receive these in the mail once we got back. I still haven’t found the right way to display them yet, but love them so much!
WELCOME TABLE SIGNS | The frames for the hashtag and guest book signs were from Target (similar here and here). I painted the backs and lettered on the front with a white paint pen. Our name sign came from Etsy and I had the seller add “THE” to the top. We have this hanging in our house now as a sweet reminder of our special day!
WEDDING PROGRAMS | This was a last minute decision to do, and I think our guests appreciated them! I created the front and backs in Photoshop and then we glued them together with a popsicle stick in the middle so they could double as a fan. The box they were housed in came from Michaels, and we stained it so it would be a darker brown to match the rest of the wood.
TABLE SETTINGS | (Table numbers and place cards) Also DIYd with a little help from Etsy. I ordered the hexagon acrylic pieces from Etsy (similar here), painted the backs with acrylic paint and cut out each name in vinyl on my Silhouette. For the table numbers, the 5×7 acrylic pieces and wood stands were from Etsy. I painted the backs and lettered the fronts with a gold paint pen. To note, I bought acrylic pieces off of Amazon, but they didn’t fit the wood stands-lesson learned.

Neither of us are big Cake people. Give us some ice cream or donuts and we are much happier. We went through the motions of getting a cake anyways because Travs dream of a huge donut wall wasn’t quite attainable with a destination wedding. But I can tell you, we were SO happy with this cake, and I dream about it all.the.time. We choose a chocolate cake with a peanut butter filling, and a white cake with raspberry filling (my fav). Trav was bummed they couldn’t do a funfetti cake (his fav), so I worked with our wedding planner and surprised him with funfetti cupcakes! We also had malasadas in lieu of donuts, and we were able to pull off a donut wall for our mainland reception, so Trav still got his donut wall as part of our celebrations!
CAKE TOPPERS | I was so excited to get a custom cake topper. I mean just search Etsy and some pretty creative (and cute!) cake toppers pop up. I went with a traditional Mr and Mrs one, but added two silhouette cats as a nod to our fur babies.
